Steps To Prepare For A Camping Trip

A camping trip is a must have on a person’s bucket list. If you haven’t done camping with your family, friends or school boy-scouts troupes, it’s time to gather some college friends or work buddies and set off. So here are some easy steps to prepare for your trip.

Decide with whom you are camping
You can either go with your family or gather a few friends from college or work. It is vital that you know their health and insurance information before going forward. Your knowledge on their insurance policies and health conditions could help-out greatly if any injury occurs. If someone needs continuous medication, ensure they bring everything they need. Also, know their allergies since if someone is allergic to peanuts, you cannot really pack peanut butter.

  • Set up a first aid kit
Injuries are bound to happen during camping. Be it a cut, bruise or insect bite, first aid can reduce the fatality of the injury by a great deal. You also need to keep in mind emergency routes to the nearest hospital or medical facility. A standard first aid kit should include pain killers, plasters, antiseptics, gauze, scissors, needle and thread, balms etc.
    • Decide how long you will stay and where you will be sleeping
You need to set dates well in advance. If you are going to a public camping site, sometimes they could be fully booked. So, call them up well in advance and book your slot. Also, make sure that all matters at your home are taken care of while you are away. For example, if you have a pet, drop it off at a friend’s place. If there are cabins at the site, make use of them. If not, take sleeping bags and a tent with you.
      • Pack all things needed
From food items to womens hiking boots, make a list of all what you’ll need while camping. Make a list so that you can keep track of all items. Do not take too many perishable foods such as chicken, cheese or milk. Spoilt food can make you sick. Always pack dry foods which can be made easily, such as instant noodles. You just need to add hot water, and voila it’s made. Do not forget to pack lots of water. Fruits and crackers would be good options too. These simple steps will help you get everything ready perfectly for your next trip. Remember to not overpack since you might have to carry all that stuff to the camp site. So now you simply need to load your backpacks and hit the road.
